About Me

Hello! My name is Emely, but everyone calls me Minnie. One of my close friends in the 4th grade taught me how to crochet, and I have been ever since! It has always been my dream to open my own shop and sell my creations, so here we are now!

I have recently graduated high school and am attending university *virtually*. I plan to major in Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Anthropology. In the future, I hope to either pursue the medical field or conduct research full-time.

Sustainability

The definition of sustainability, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is "of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged." For most of my life, I have been deeply submerged in a fast fashion world and mindset. However, after learning about the high carbon footprint, the amount of water wasted, the long hours and little pay garment workers are forced to comply with, the immense textile waste, and how common child labor is, I decided I could no longer support this industry.

Minnie Stitches is a size-inclusive, ethical, and sustainable brand. I use only renewable materials, such as cotton, wool, silk, hemp, and linen. My yarn is sourced from reputable, sustainable brands that supports local farmers with fair wages. All products are shipped in either recycled packaging from past purchases, or sustainable packaging from a company founded on the same values (EcoEnclose). All of my packaging (the only exception being repurposed poly mailers) is biodegradable, compostable, and/or curbside recyclable. Lastly, all of my products are made with the intention of being worn to shreds (a very, very long time!). After sourcing the highest quality materials, I put many hours into each item I crochet to ensure a long lifetime for every garment.
